Gebr. Lehmann

  • Dresde
  • Booth A11

In January 1988, the two brothers, Frank and Ralf Lehmann, launched a project room in their joint apartment in Dresden, in what was then the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). From this project arose the Galerie Gebr. Lehmann in 1992. From 2007 to 2017, the Galerie Gebr. Lehmann in Berlin opened a second establishment in the Galerienhaus Lindenstraße. The gallery has also been present at the world’s most important fairs for many years now.
The Galerie Gebr. Lehmann represents a wide range of positions within recent German painting. Many of the artists, who primarily grew up in East Germany and were shaped by their experiences there, count among the most important artists of their generation. The gallery’s main address is in Dresden; most of the artists live in Berlin or Dresden. The artists’ programme has been extended out of respect for international positions. Their number includes Keiichi Tanaami (Japan), Lara Schnitger (USA), Kohei Yoshijuki (Japan) and Joep van Liefland (the Netherlands), among others.
The gallery works continually with internationally acclaimed German artists such as Eberhard Havekost, Olaf Holzapfel, Tatjana Doll, Frank Nitsche and Thoralf Knobloch. These artists have been built up by the Galerie, which represents them exclusively and in the long term.
Over the past few years, the gallery has extended its focus to include the fields of sculpture and installations and in recent years has increasingly focused on young female artists like Stephanie Lüning, Lisa Kränzler, Lisa Pahlke.
