Serge Ecker, Catherine Lorent, Claudia Passeri and Trixi Weis present the joint project TRANSITUS IMMOBILIS to take part in Luxembourg Art Week 2024. This will be the third station of this evolving project after its inauguration at the Wiener Art Foundation in Vienna in spring 2018 and at Luxembourg Art Week 2018.

Initiated by Ecker and Lorent in 2017, this joint project brings together differences and analogies in a traveling laboratory. The working title TRANSITUS IMMOBILIS is inspired by the Latin legal sentence‚ Immobilia situm sequuntur’ which means that ‘immovable things follow their place’. The experience of the Venice Biennale brings together the two biographies of Ecker and Lorent in two spheres, those of architecture in 2016 (Ecker) and those of the visual arts in 2013 (Lorent). Their project is exportable as a Western social sculpture seeking to establish dialogue with contexts outside the world of contemporary art, open to collaborations of artists in the public sphere.

By inviting Claudia Passeri and Trixi Weis within the framework of the LAW, they set out in search of new

paths connecting the points of convergence of different approaches in art. Developing alternative views in contemporary art in dialogue with society, the artistic practice of Lorent, Ecker, Passeri and Weis often opposes established artistic categories.

They seek to reinterpret, transpose and clothe the idea of a total sensual work of art by creating a multi-dimensional environment using spatial work installations, combining sculpture, performance, music, painting, drawing, photography, video and staging in image and sound installations with multiple connotations.

Interactions with the public are embedded in these works. For this new edition of the Luxembourg Art Week TRANSITUS IMMOBILIS presents personal works by the artists as well as the joint work MOOOONING//Quattro stagioni, a sculpture that was created from 3D scans from the gluteal region of each of the 4 artists. It is offered in two versions of different sizes.

Serge Ecker presents a selection of current works, including the edition of 3 Shop ‘til you drop prints in black and white on Ilford paper or the series of 9 tiles on 20x20 cm printed in 3D. Catherine Lorent shows recent works on paper. Claudia Passeri presents among others the archive box set Aedicula, containing 40 newspapers including 122 images printed on the first and last pages published on the occasion of the homonymous exhibition held at the Chapelle de la Charité in Arles in 2019. Trixi Weis will show a serie of sculptures from the installation invisibles, shown at Nosbaum Reding / Projects earlier this year and photographs.
