Luxembourg Art Week is proud to present the selection committee for its 2025 edition. Composed of art professionals from diverse backgrounds and appointed for a three-year term, with some overlap to ensure continuity, the committee plays a pivotal role in reviewing and selecting exhibitors for Luxembourg Art Week 2025. We are delighted to welcome Marc Gubbini, who renews his mandate and brings his expertise.
Alongside his wife Diane, Marc Gubbini began his passion in 1985, after completing his university studies. As a young emerging architect with modest funds to allocate to Art, he followed the principle that
"at the beginning, a collector has the choice to either buy works in the form of editions or works on paper from a renowned artist, or purchase medium-sized drawings or canvases from an emerging artist."
Following this approach, Diane and Marc started their collection with their very first piece, a lithograph by internationally renowned artist Hans Hartung, which they discovered through the gallerist Jean Aulner. Over time, their collection expanded to include works by Luxembourgish and renowned international artists over a span of more than 35 years.
Over the years, strong friendships developed with a great number of artists, gallerists, and other figures in the art world. Many artists have come to Luxembourg to visit the collection and rediscover their own works.
Their shared passion has led Diane and Marc to invest in nearly all mediums of the artistic spectrum: editions and multiples, drawings and paintings, as well as sculptures (both floor and wall pieces), neon works, photographs, videos, and, more recently, digital art.
As an architect, Marc, along with Diane—who also studied architecture—designed the space housing their collection to ensure that the works were perfectly displayed and presented. It is a daily pleasure they share with their friends, and with many other art lovers and collectors.
Marc Gubbini joined the Luxembourg Art Week selection committee in 2022 and has since contributed to the evolution of the fair over the past three editions. Guided by his motto,
"Collecting is not about money; it's about interest, commitment, and passion,"
he brings more than thirty-five years of expertise to the 11th edition, gained alongside his wife and driven by their insatiable curiosity.
