Luxembourg Art Week is proud to present the selection committee for its 2025 edition. Composed of art professionals from diverse backgrounds and appointed for a three-year term, with some overlap to ensure continuity, the committee plays a pivotal role in reviewing and selecting exhibitors for Luxembourg Art Week 2025. We are delighted to welcome Nathalie Berghege, who renews her mandate and brings her expertise.
Nathalie Berghege describes herself as being literally "inhabited" by art—a burning passion that led her to Galerie Lelong in the 8th arrondissement, the historic gallery district of Paris. In this legendary space, which showcased artists such as Joan Miró, Antoni Tàpies, and Francis Bacon in the 1980s.
It all began the day she discovered Louise Bourgeois' sculptures at the Musée d’Art Moderne de la ville de Paris. Intrigued by the work of the nonagenarian artist, the then student at the École du Louvre, decided to dedicate her final thesis in museology to her. The young woman travelled to New York to meet Bourgeois. These unforgettable visits to the artist's Chelsea home allowed her to gain invaluable insight into Bourgeois’ creative process.
Then came the encounter with Jean Frémon, president of Galerie Lelong and an expert on Bourgeois' work. He was, in fact, the first to bring her art to the European stage in 1985 when she was still relatively unknown. This natural affinity lead Nathalie Berghege onto the international art scene, where she has since worked to promote and support the renowned artists represented by the prestigious Parisian gallery.
In joining the selection committee in 2022 –ensuring the transition with the new members– Nathalie Berghege continues the long-standing commitment of Galerie Lelong to the fair, which was present at the very first edition presenting a monographic exhibition of Etel Adnan. Since then, other artists have been regularly featured, including MacArthur Binion in 2017, the French artist Fabienne Verdier in 2021, and more recently Christine Safa and Marion Verboom, all of whom received a warm welcome in Luxembourg.
“It is always a pleasure to come to Luxembourg. The audience at Luxembourg Art Week is very open and attentive. There is a real spontaneity, a genuine interest, and remarkable loyalty. Over time, a strong relationship of trust has been built. Collectors appreciate that we come to them to present the latest works of the artists we represent,” she shares.
