L'Orangerie is a space open to the public, dedicated to the promotion of contemporary visual arts, and located in a rural semi-urban area in the Province of Luxembourg. For twenty years, l'Orangerie has been reflecting on and engaging in contemporary art and its audiences. Organised as an ASBL since 2010, it aims to be a space for promotion, encounter, and awareness. It pays attention and gives credit to different artistic disciplines and techniques in order to present contemporary art in all its diversity. Such a place in a rural region far from other artistic poles raises various issues and constantly questions our actions with the public. For l'Orangerie, it is a question of ensuring cutting-edge programming while remaining accessible to a local and regional population curious and sensitive to the visual arts. In its desire to become part of the local territory, l’Orangerie regularly participates in popular initiatives and events led by the Municipality of Bastogne. One of the missions of l’Orangerie is to welcome artists from the French-speaking Community of Belgium and regions bordering on the Province of Luxembourg. It organises several exhibitions per year, presented within L’Orangerie itself, in Elisabeth Park, or outside the walls. Five areas of activity: dissemination, production, education, publishing, and collection. L'Orangerie is supported by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, the Province of Luxembourg, and the City of Bastogne.
