Curator Machine
Curator Machine will be on display in the fair's main hall. Developed by artist Bjornus Van der Borght (Ghent, Belgium) in collaboration with Jerry Galle, this innovative project, which takes the form of a vending machine, challenges the perception and acquisition of art. Each work is offered at affordable prices, anonymously and blindly. The six guest artists, all with digital backgrounds, were invited to use 3D printing to explore the impact of the corporatization of the Internet on social networking and its repercussions on our daily lives.
Curator Machine is a not-for-profit organization that donates 70% of sales to artists, with the remaining 30% funding future projects. By integrating consumerist codes in a satyrical way, this unique project questions the dynamics of contemporary art, the artist-curator relationship, and art market structures and encourages the active participation of the public. Curator Machine aims to promote collective artistic experimentation and the appropriation of market mechanisms. With an emphasis on inclusivity and experimentation, Curator Machine is a catalyst for social change, exploring how art can become a vehicle for alternative proposals in our society.
