The Écho 119 gallery and bookstore was founded in 2016 by Noëlle Colin, who divides her time between France and Japan. Primarily specializing in photography, the gallery showcases the work of both established and emerging photographers, with a particular focus on Japanese artists. Without ever straying from this dual cultural identity that defines its character and guides its vision, Écho 119 has embraced new artistic sensibilities, united by a concern for contemporary issues and a strong aesthetic pursuit that makes the images intellectually and visually powerful works of art. In the spirit of the Japanese photographic tradition, Écho 119 also offers a wide selection of photography books, ranging from the latest releases to rare editions. The gallery is managed by Salomé d’Ornano, with Kinuko Asano serving as artistic director.
