Luxembourg Art Week is delighted to welcome Guillaume Smets, founder of Stems Gallery, joining the selection committee for its 2026 edition. Bringing together gallerists, collectors and art professionals from Luxembourg and abroad, the Selection Committee reflects a diversity of artistic perspectives and sensibilities. They are invited for their deep knowledge of the art market and their close connection to the Luxembourg art scene, as well as for the international outlook they bring to the fair.

Guillaume Smets is a contemporary art gallerist and founder of Stems Gallery, Brussels. He began his career by founding his first gallery in Luxembourg in 2013, where he presented a generation of young experimental artists, notably through collaborations with the New York–based programme Shoot the Lobster.

In 2015, he relocated to Brussels to establish Stems Gallery alongside his sister Pascaline Smets. From the outset, the gallery developed a strong focus on emerging American artists, quickly gaining recognition for its ambitious exhibitions and its commitment to supporting experimental contemporary practices.

In 2020, as the gallery expanded, Stems Gallery opened a new space in the historic former Solvay buildings in Brussels, marking a significant step in its development and reinforcing its international visibility.

Today, many of the gallery’s artists have established significant careers and are co-represented by leading international galleries. Stems Gallery participates in approximately eight international art fairs each year and collaborates closely with renowned institutions to further support and sustain the careers of its artists.
