Art Walk Challenge
Chidy Wayne’s (b. 1981, Spain) artwork embodies the latin term ego (“I”) in a compact, rock-like volume that concentrates energy into a solid core. The piece invites the viewer to contemplate identity as a solidified metaphysical reflection, a presence of the “self” rooted in the substance of matter. For Wayne, the hands are the immediate mirror of our existence: if no reflection is available, it is the hands that confirm the self in relation to the world. In this work, that mirror becomes a timeless block that transcends the intimate and the collective, evoking both the ancestral and the contemporary.
