The Municipalities of Junglinster and Betzdorf present DAGOBERTO RODRÍGUEZ: Broadcasting the Unknown, curated by Emanuela Mazzonis and produced by VF Art Projects, with the support of the Embassy of Spain in Luxembourg. The exhibition marks Cuban artist Dagoberto Rodríguez’s first solo exhibition in Luxembourg.
From October 24 to November 29, 2026, the exhibition unfolds across two venues: the Annexes of Château de Bourglinster in Junglinster and Al Kierch in Roodt/Syre, Betzdorf. The opening takes place on Saturday, October 24, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, in the presence of the artist, local authorities, and the Spanish Ambassador.
The exhibition explores communication, technology, power, surveillance, and humanity’s relationship with an increasingly digital world. It connects Junglinster’s heritage of RTL radio antennas with Betzdorf, home to SES Astra and its satellite infrastructure.
At Château de Bourglinster, Rodríguez presents terracotta satellites alongside paintings and video works reflecting on technological progress, global connectivity, surveillance, and information. At Al Kierch, he presents El gimnasio del pensamiento (The Gymnasium of Thought), an immersive installation exploring education, literature, memory, and the enduring power of ideas. Together, the two venues create a dialogue between technological networks and the intellectual landscapes shaped by culture, knowledge, and imagination.
Biography
Dagoberto Rodríguez, born in Cuba in 1969 and based in Madrid, is an internationally recognized contemporary artist and founding member of Los Carpinteros (1992–2018). His multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture, painting, installation, video, architecture, and design, addressing themes of power, globalization, technology, and society through humor and irony. His work is held in collections including MoMA, Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, and Museo Reina Sofía, Guggenheim New York, among many others.
