Lieu : Art Talks Area, Luxembourg Art Week
Langue : English
Guest speakers : David Claerbout (Artist)
Ory Dessau (Independent Curator and Writer)
Christian Mosar (Director, Konschthal Esch & Bridderhaus)
On the occasion of the solo exhibition Five Hours, Fifty Days, Fifty Years at Konschthal Esch, a special talk will bring together artist David Claerbout, guest curator Ory Dessau — author of the main essay in the book dedicated to the artist’s work published by König Books — and curator Christian Mosar.
This conversation offers an in-depth exploration of a body of work that profoundly questions our perception of time, image, and memory. Blending experimental cinema, video installation, digital animation, and live streaming, Claerbout has developed a singular practice at the intersection of visual and sensory experience. The discussion will notably focus on his latest creation, The woodcarver and the forest, a performative and evolving work conceived to unfold over several years.
Biographies
Belgian artist David Claerbout, a leading figure on the international contemporary art scene, has been developing for over thirty years a singular and reflective approach to the production, presentation, and perception of images. The fusion of the human and the technological is the guiding thread of his practice and runs through his images, films, installations, and drawings. His exhibition Five Hours, Fifty Days, Fifty Years, presented at Konschthal Esch from October 18, 2025, to February 22, 2026, offers an unprecedented overview of his work and marks his first solo exhibition in Luxembourg.
