La révolution de 1974. Des rues de Lisbonne au Luxembourg

25 April 1974 marked the fall of the dictatorship in Portugal. Many Portuguese people found refuge in Luxembourg. 50 years on, the Nationalmusée is preparing a major exhibition.

The overthrow of the dictatorship in Portugal, seen from a Luxembourg perspective, is at the heart of a major exhibition that will open at the Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart on 25 April 2024, exactly fifty years after the Carnation Revolution. Luxembourg today is home to over 100,000 people whose lives have been shaped by these events (people of various nationalities and origins, from Portugal or the former Portuguese colonies). These are citizens who immigrated to the Grand Duchy in large numbers in the 60s and 70s, when Portugal was still under the dictatorship or embarking on the path to democracy following 25 April 1974.
