Originally conceived for LUGA – Luxembourg Urban Garden 2025, A Head Like a Garden is a series of artistic protocols that invite a mental and sensory wander through public space. First presented between May and October 2025, the work consisted of twelve poetic phrases engraved on metal plaques, scattered throughout Parc Odendahl in the heart of the historic Pfaffenthal district, the lower part of Luxembourg City. Conceived as invitations to walk, observe and imagine, these protocols heighten our awareness of our surroundings, of walking as a creative process, and of the invisible energies around us.

In autumn 2026, from mid-October to the end of November, eight of these sculptures reappear in the Ville Haute, brought together in Parc Dräi Eechelen as part of Luxembourg Art Walk 2026. Moving from one neighbourhood to another and from one season to the next, the work, arranged here in a circle like a compass rose, a compass for our senses, enters a new phase. Far from being a simple repetition, this presentation extends the work through time and space, allowing the same words and gestures to encounter a different landscape, atmosphere and season. It also invites us to reflect on the passing of time and the constant transformation of living things.

Each protocol is accompanied by an evolving garden, which changes with the seasons, much like the thoughts it inspires. These “gardens of the mind” foster a state of permanent awakening and gestation, offering a poetic and animist perspective on the world. Through group walks and performative actions, the project takes an ecological and participatory approach, paying tribute to simple gestures, as well as to the trades, people and communities that are often left in the shadows.
