Art as a status symbol for the rich and powerful: the author and art critic Wolfgang Ullrich describes an artworld in decline. The independent artist is no longer independent but caters to the desire of exclusivity, luxury and self-representation of a few collectors. The question is, what does this art look like?
** Wolfgang Ullrich ** studied philosophy and history of art. Since 2006, he has been Professor of Art History and Media Theory at the Karlsruhe Design Academy, and since 2014, Vice President of Research. In 2015, he left his post as a professor to work as an independent writer in Leipzig and Munich.
