With its impressive archives, the Cinémathèque preserves and promotes international film heritage. In its screening room at Place du Théâtre, it presents retrospectives, as well as a wide range of special events devoted to the seventh art: film conferences, round tables, public youth projects, senior activities, film concerts, and festivals. The Cinémathèque organises the City Open Air Cinema with Orange and is an important partner of the Luxembourg City Film Festival.

The Luxembourg City Cinémathèque has been a member of the International Federation of Film Archives since 1983.

Opening hours:
The Cinémathèque hosts daily screenings from Monday to Friday at 18:30 and 20:30, on Saturdays at 19:00 and 21:30, and on Sundays at 15:00, 17:00 and 20:30 (unless otherwise specified).
