Johanne Allard

Le Loup Garou , 2025

Hand embroidered coton thread on konnyaku paper in a white carved wooden box A figure howls beneath a gilded moon, representing Quebec’s folklore of the Loup Garou, a person punished for neglecting confession. This work exposes how the Church weaponized fear to enforce obedience, turning local myth into a tool of control. The flies swarming within the piece represent the distortion of belief.
